I recently discovered Merchant’s Guild cafe, thanks to a breakfast date a few weeks ago with my lovely cousin. When I suggested to my hubby a breakfast date was on the cards he was super eager to visit Merchant’s Guild again, in fact he couldn’t stop talking about the soft salted-caramel donuts and poached eggs. It was a date! And the second time round it surely didn’t disappoint.
Both visits have been on a Sunday, for late-morning lazy breakfast. The cafe is a buzz with families, couples and locals alike. With a short wait for a table, the staff a super friendly and full of life. The aromas that waft through the open kitchen and dining area immediately awaken the taste buds.
With an industrial-style layout, a cute garden courtyard, gorgeous pendant lighting, and food served on wooden boards the place has a soft hipster-meet the suburbs feel to it. Open for breakfast and lunch, the menu changes slightly and is not your standard breaki fare.
Short cut bacon with an avocado and charred corn salsa on sourdough with eggs
and jalapeno pesto was my dish of the day washed down with a freshly squeezed orange juice. Definitely work a visit, I know I’ll be back again soon!
